The Star Trek universe has been a vivacious area of late, with announcements of new TV series and multiple potential new film projects on the horizon. However, greater than the weekend one of those film projects, the follow-up to Star Trek Beyond, seemed to come to a crashing halt as both Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth, who were acknowledged to star in the film, walked away from negotiations after the studio reportedly asked both stars to acknowledge a pay cut. while that would seemingly execute any unintentional this new movie had of getting off the auditorium (my colleague, Adam Holmes, says Pine's departure should be a dealbreaker), the fact is that the next Star Trek movie doesn't actually infatuation Captain Kirk.

To be clear, the next Star Trek movie had been reported to have a plot that revolved on mature travel and would have seen George Kirk, played by Chris Hemsworth in the native Star Trek reboot film, reward in some capacity. Clearly, making that particular tally without the two Chrises would be likely impossible, but there's no excuse you can't make a new Star Trek movie without James T. Kirk.

While the box office may not play in it, I actually think Star Trek greater than is the best of the reboot universe Trek films. A huge portion of the excuse for that is because it doesn't rely as heavily on Captain Kirk as the hero of the movie. The crew of the Enterprise gets split stirring for a large portion of the film, and each little charity is fixed some mature in the spotlight. Sure, Kirk yet gets to play in play in hero as the guy racing on on a motorcycle, but he's yet one advocate of an entire crew, and the entire crew is made stirring of great actors who can easily carry a movie.

As Star Trek: The next Generation showed us on television, Star Trek is great with it focuses on the people, and uses the science fiction environment suitably as a backdrop for these environment interactions. while the Captain is an obviously important environment on a starship, he doesn't have to be an important environment in the story.

For that reason, Star Trek suitably doesn't infatuation Kirk, and appropriately it doesn't infatuation Chris Pine. A Star Trek movie doesn't infatuation to be a Kirk story. It can be a Spock tally or a Bones tally or an Uhura story. It doesn't infatuation to focus on any one environment at all, actually. If Kirk isn't there, next a tally roughly why he's not there, and how the crew as a total reacts to that, feels with an obvious area for a tally to go.

After all, the last mature a Star Trek movie was missing a major character, the plot focused on finding him again, and the reboot films love to make quotation to the native series films, appropriately it's an obvious area to go.

Of course, the next Star Trek movie doesn't infatuation to even environment with a talk to sequel to Star Trek Beyond. You could treat it as a spinoff, and solitary focus on a couple of characters, tell Spock and Uhura. You could leave the entire dismount of the cast out of it, and yet make a Star Trek movie. Just because the movie might acknowledge area concurrently with Enterprise crew we know and love doesn't seek it has to be roughly that.

Odds are that, one artifice or another, this issue will be dealt with and Star Trek 4 will get support on track, but if it doesn't, it's suitably not the stop of the world. James T. Kirk is an important portion of Star Trek, but he's not the solitary part. Star Trek doesn't infatuation to be a star vehicle for anybody. If the tally is strong enough, the new actors are more than clever of making a Star Trek movie that's worth seeing and worthy of monster called Star Trek.
